Our son, Luke was first diagnosed with Autism right before his 2nd birthday. It was our biggest fear, the worst words to hear, but we wanted to hear the truth. I thought, no it could not be true as I set in the floor watching him play, but not “play” in a way that was considered “normal.” However he did play with the phone correctly but would not interact and feed the baby doll they had presented. He would play with the musically toys and anything that had buttons to push. I can still feel the numbness, the emptiness as I left the office that day, but I still held out in faith that no he can not have Autism, not our child. I think the biggest part is finally accepting the autism diagnosis and then the true journey starts…..
